The aim of the QIS Cricket program is to provide a regional training environment that allows eligible young cricketers access to quality development opportunities.

The program is aimed primarily at individual skill development with a focus on preparing scholarship athletes for Queensland state cricket team selection trials and the further representative opportunities that lay ahead.

In addition to athlete development, the program also focuses on the development and further education of local coaches and umpires.

Players will train twice a week throughout the summer with high quality local cricket coaches, athletic coaches and young youth players undertaking sports coaching traineeships.

The QIS will hold selection trials in October each year to select the team for the following year. Institute selection trials are open to aspiring young athletes who fit within the eligibility criteria for the program.

Players will need to be willing to devote their time and effort to meet the program requirements. Players will also need to fall into the following age brackets:

  • U10 (2013)
  • U11 (2013)
  • U12 (2013)
  • U13 (2013)

A scholarship levy fee does apply to all athletes who are successful in becoming a QIS scholarship athlete. This scholarship fee covers the full cost of participation in the program including, but not limited to, training, education, materials and the QIS apparel kit.

Additional costs may apply for travel and/or accommodation at some stages throughout the program, though athletes and their parents will receive information regarding any additional costs well in advance of any such events or opportunities.

The scholarship fee must be paid in full prior to commencement of the scholarship program, unless a payment plan has been arranged and signed-off by QIS management.
