The QIS Rugby Union program provides players with a more defined and direct pathway to progression through rugby union.
Athletes receive expert coaching and participate in both practical and educational development sessions throughout the program under the guidance of coaches appointed by the QIS.
Players train twice per week through a 12-week off season period with Queensland’s best development coaches and are supported by high calibre youth players undertaking sports coaching traineeships.
Players will be identified through our primary school development programs by observing skill sessions and game play, and also by liaising with Queensland Regional Development Officers.
Players will need to be willing to devote their time and effort to meet the program requirements. Players will also need to fall into the following age brackets:
A scholarship levy fee does apply to all athletes who are successful in becoming a QIS scholarship athlete. This scholarship fee covers the full cost of participation in the program including, but not limited to, training, education, materials and the QIS apparel kit.
Additional costs may apply for travel and/or accommodation at some stages throughout the program, though athletes and their parents will receive information regarding any additional costs well in advance of any such events or opportunities.
The scholarship fee must be paid in full prior to commencement of the scholarship program, unless a payment plan has been arranged and signed-off by QIS management.
